Nottingham Business School has seen a rapid expansion of research activity in recent years, and aims to maintain that progress. Our research strategy places a particular focus on application. This is reflected in being designated as a Centre of Research Excellence by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. We are also one of only four Business Schools in the country to have its professional doctorate (DBA) programme recognised by the ESRC.

We are looking for keen and able candidates to apply for studentships to undertake doctoral study in one or more of the priority topics outlined below. The studentships will pay UK /EU fees, and provide a maintenance stipend of £13,290 for up to three years.
The University’s Graduate School is recognised by the ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) for research training in Business & Management, Social Policy (including Public Policy, Applied Sociology, Criminology, Social Work Research, and Public Health), Politics and Psychology. It is also certified to be compliant with Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) training guidelines in Law.
Research is undertaken across a range of disciplines. We would welcome applications from students in most areas of business or economics, but in particular the areas below where specialist supervision may be available:

Marketing and Consumer Services :
o Retail management and marketing;
o Fashion marketing;o Supply Chain Management;
o Tourism and tourist impacts;
o Hospitality management and leisure retailing;
o Ethics in retailing and marketing;
o Relationship marketing;
o Services marketing;
o Lean organisations.
Public Sector Management :
o Regeneration; Partnerships and network governance;
