PhD Position in Development Economics: The Postgraduate Course on Developing Countries (NADEL) at the ETH Zurich is offering a doctoral student position in Development Economics. The NADEL conducts research in all fields of applied development economics and studies.
Besides your own empirical research, part of your work is participating in ongoing research projects within the institute and in teaching preparations. Current larger research projects include “the impact of water and sanitation programs in sub-Saharan Africa”, “mortality and fertility in sub-Saharan Africa” or “measuring poverty under risk and uncertainty”. You will also participate in the doctoral program of the ETH.
We are looking for candidates with a strong background in quantitative methods and/or development economics and with an interest in African economies. Applicants should ideally have a qualified degree in economics, econometrics or statistics and should be fluently spoken and written in English. Knowledge of German and/or French is helpful but not required. You should also be willing to travel to do field work in developing countries.
